Great Prairie AEA Regional Teams Redesigned

Change is always happening and with change comes great opportunity. This year will be full of opportunities as we continue to move forward with our long-range and short-range plans for the future of Great Prairie AEA. Due to a late resignation and current budget restraints, our plan to redesign the Regional Teams has been moved up one year. School Districts will not see a change in AEA staff members serving your buildings; however, a different Regional Director may serve some.

Bill Walters, Regional Special Education Director based in our Fairfield Satellite Office, resigned from his position and his resignation was accepted at the July/August Board meeting. With Bill’s resignation and with the $20 million cut to the AEA System through the Legislative process, we saw an opportunity to move forward with our plan to reduce one administrative position this year by redesigning the regions. The Regional Directors met on August 8, 2011 and finalized tough decisions regarding a redesign of the regions.

Changes for Great Prairie AEA school districts will be limited to a change in Regional Special Education Director. Great Prairie AEA staff will continue to serve the same local school districts that were assigned. The following is a list of the new regional configuration and Regional Director assignments:

Tom Mosbach – Albia, Centerville, Chariton, Moravia, Moulton-Udell, Seymour, & Wayne

Angelisa Fynaardt – Davis County, Ottumwa, Seton Catholic

Sharma Parlett – Eddyville-Blakesburg, Fremont, North Mahaska, Oskaloosa, Tri-County, Sigourney, Keota, Pekin, and Oskaloosa Christian

Melody Raub – Fairfield, Cardinal, Van Buren, Harmony, WACO, Winfield-Mt. Union, and Maharishi Schools

Kim Kirchner – Ft. Madison, Keokuk, Central Lee, Keokuk Catholic, and Holy Trinity Catholic

Matt Mitchell – Burlington, West Burlington, and Burlington Notre Dame Catholic

Thelma O’Neill – Mt. Pleasant, New London, Danville, Mediapolis, Morning Sun, and Wapello

Great Prairie AEA will continue to provide you with exceptional service aimed to increase student performance and achievement in the 2011-12 school year.
